What Dreams May Come

Many years ago a fic was started about James Potter being alive and his story as he re-entered the wizarding world and his son's life. And then updating became sporadic. And then two years went by until it was finally updated again, with a promise from the author that the fic was not and would never be abandon.

Four years later and said author is hardly even around online, let alone updated the fic.

Said author fails at fanfic life, y/y?

Well, there's news. Good news, even! I never took divination, but I'm seeing an update in the near future.

Long story short, after I re-thought out the entire plot and point to the story, I put myself in a situation where the next few chapters are basically really important to the continued path of the fic. In other words, the decisions I'm making for these chapters essentially set up the remaining chapters. And I'm really bad at making decisions. I like to claim writers block, and maybe that's a part of it, but... not really. It's making up my mind on a few things and I can't continue without being decisive.

And so, I'm forcing myself to be decisive. I'm almost satisfied with chapter 15 and I'm (seriously!) currently in the middle of reworking chapter 16. I have a start on seventeen and 18 and 19 are pretty mapped out. I just want to finish a bit more so that I'm sure of my decisions (really, I'm about to the point where I just say eff it and go with it, generally the way I make decisions) and the next chapter will be posted. Which will also mean the next chapter will be close to finished...and so forth.

There is an outline. The story will finish through to the end of the war. It won't always be pretty. I'm sure it'll be angsty and hopefully continue to tear at your heartstrings some. I know that Tiffany and Erica aren't favorite characters, but they are important and there will be just a few more original characters (one of the areas I've struggled in making decisions). I've left a lot of questions and there even a few things that may appear to be mistakes (well, I'm sure there are plenty of mistakes) and all will be answered.

In the mean time, I just really really want to thank everyone who has read. It really means a lot. Thank you to those who continue to find wdmc and add it to their favorites and alert lists. And a massive thank you to all who have reviewed. You guys all rock my world.

So here's to the soon to come update. I'm excited.

 Help me, please.

I have asked before, but it was over two years ago.

Tell me what one book I should buy. I'm not picky on genre, anything goes. You all read and you all talk about favorites, so rec me, please.

Musings from a long lost author

Yes! Contrary to what I know you're thinking, I am still writing! As usual, life has been busy and I've decided I want to be well ahead of the game before I start updating once again. The good news is that we're getting closer to an update.

For those interested in What Dreams May Come

Chapters 15, Second Chances, and 16, Love's Direction, are both written. I'm currently working on chapter 17, which is still untitled. The really good news I can share is the entire fic has been outlined. Here's the part that floored me; we're going to be around for a while longer. To my best estimate, which isn't absolutely certain as the chapters themselves aren't outlined (and have a tendency to take on a life of their own each time), there's approx. 30 to 40 more chapters left of this story. If I can keep myself from adding any other side stories or running off on a tangent, it should be closer to the 30 mark, but knowing me, somewhere in the middle (and I can almost see the areas that will be trouble for me), I might hit that 40 mark easy. Heh.

So, the story is set, I've had plenty of time to plan it out and it's finally down in outline form and unless one of my betas persuade me due to plot holes or just downright silliness or horribleness, things won't change no matter reactions. I can tell you this much - the story will remain as close to canon as I can make it. It will, of course, deviate from that often enough to stand out, as it is an AU to begin with. It will get dark; there will be character deaths and injuries. You'll be introduced to some new characters, there will be romance, adventures and plenty of drama.

It'll be a little bit longer before any updates will start rolling in. The ever wonderful [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos  (and somehow I've pulled the also, ever wonderful [livejournal.com profile] christycorr  into the mix) and myself have been quite busy and I haven't put a rush on any beta reading. Plus, I would like to stay ahead by a few chapters. That way, in my often times of not being around, or having the time to write, I can still have something to update with.

In the mean time, somehow, [livejournal.com profile] christycorr  convinced me to sign up for this year's Fic Exchange at Unknowable Room, so I guess I'm doing that. I fear deadlines, so this may not have been the best idea ever...

Hopefully, I can finish chapter 17 soon and get a good start on 18. When I get that far, I'll start putting pressure on my betas and by the time I get 18 done, I can update with 15 and stay a good three chapters ahead of my posting. I've said this before and I still mean it, with or without any readers, I will finish wdmc. *grins*

Happy reading!

wdmc chapter update

S'weird, the moments that grab me and choke me until I write and then I do.

More for my own insanity, but if you're interested, a progress report on What Dreams May Come, Chapter 15, Second Chances.

- First draft almost completed (one that I think I'm happy with!)
-Is currently standing at 9660 words with a partial scene and a whole scene yet to be written (whole scene may be a bit lengthy, not sure yet)
(the most words ever put in a chapter was 10,109 in Ch 11. I think I may beat that record, but considering the length of time that's passed, I owe it to my readers, yeah?)

- Am hoping to have this completed and looked over so I can send it to my betas (*coughcough [personal profile] firstlightofeos and [personal profile] christycorr coughcough*) within the week.

- Is still making no promises on when this chapter will be up.

- Is, however, happy with said progress and has already began the rough ideas of putting together chapter 16.

- Feels she's accomplished a lot for one evening and is going to bed

A Rebirth of What Dreams May Come

Hah, I scared you, didn't I? Missy posting?!?! Seriously, I know.

So. To sum this post up, I have answers to the burning questions and I'm ready to write this thing. And, any readers or not Chapter 15 will not be the final chapter to What Dreams May Come. There will be no sequel. This story will be longer, because there's no need to change stories to finish one tale. wdmc will follow through the canon we've been given and end with the war being won. I won't give anymore away than that *laughs*.

And I'm serious this time (although I make no promises on how fast or often updates will be; I do have the same life I've had the past couple of years, but readers or none, I will finish. I've even found myself a new beta. I haven't talked to [profile] lizaloo  in ages and [personal profile] satirise  and [profile] white_tulips  are both extremely busy (although I do hope they'll both continue to be around; I do love their opinions and help). So, even though she's busy too, I've enlisted the ever wonderful, Grammar Nazi and great pusher of getting me off my ass when I need it, [personal profile] firstlightofeos  . Much love and thanks to agreeing to help me out *laughs and looks forward to the coming frustrations she shall have because of me*.

So, I've just gone and done thrown a lot on my plate, but I'm excited about all of it. Especially now that I have direction not forced thoughts on where to go with wdmc. I'm looking forward to this challenge. *grins*

And yeah, I just thought I'd share that in case anyone cared. *laughs*

Here's to wdmc and the coming agony I so look forward to having because of it. *drinks*

when you've given up all hope...

I meant to come home tonight and catch up, comment and update. I have, as usual, a thousand things to say, I even have a thousand things I should be doing (flisting and LJ-ing in general on the list) - - -

However...

I'm actually writing...

wdmc fans don't get too excited, it's not that. It's not even RtW. Yeah, great job, Mis, take on a new project when you have old, unfinished projects just sitting there. The news I'm hoping for is that this little piece (whether it's garbage or not, because it most definitely won't be multi-chaptered) will lead to working on those.

And yes, this is a major big deal. I've been struggling with the very idea of writing for a while now and Adam's been hounding me to just...do it. So...if this keeps up and I actually keep writing and follow through - thank Adam.

*goes back to notebook and pen to keep writing*

(the originally intended update shall come)

*booming voice* HARRY POTTER. *smaller voice* Video rec.

I'm updating so much (at least what would be considered abnormal behavior for me) I think my journal might implode on me.

So, I'm being one of those fun friends who are littering your flist with a fanvid that you may have already seen or heard about. *grins* I thought it was put together pretty well, though, and figured if you haven't seen it, you should. *nods*

So go check this out, The End of Harry Potter; The Ultimate Dedication Video, at YouTube and get a little teary-eyed while you thank JKR for all that she gave us.

And do tell me if you were even a little sentimental. I'm trying to decide if I can decipher my real feelings from those that time of month cause. *laughs*

OH! And so seriously - what do you think of the possible Harry Potter musical??? *is trying to really imagine this and is failing but would still so go and see it given the chance*

(In other news, I have a lot of work to do at work (hey! There's a concept!) and I'm moving this weekend. *dies* It just occurred to me (first time I tried to spell occurred and I got it right on the first time! Whoot! *cough*) that I have to RE-pack everything we've unpacked the past three months. *looks around* CRAP. Oh, and starting from Saturday, I won't have internet until at least Tuesday night (if the cable company actually comes when they said they would). Just an FYI for any fellow Admins or people wondering why the hell I'm still not updating even though I said I was writing (which I am! Slowly...but I am!).)

What Dreams May Come Question

I have a question that I'm curious as to how others think concerning an answer. I have my own ideas, but I haven't came to a conclusive answer yet.

I'm working on finally, yet again the last chapter. I'm attempting at being particular with how I conclude certain plots/ideas in the story, keeping in mind that I may, more than likely, write one, if not two, sequels (basically, my versions of books six and seven).

With that in mind - and I suppose this question is relative basing it on the personality of my James - I've been contemplating exactly how Voldemort would react, and thus affect the war and his concentration on Harry, to James being alive after all.

More to the point, in your opinion, considering that Voldemort (remember that wdmc is pre-DH) never heard the prophecy in its entirety, do you think that he would concentrate on James just as much as he does on Harry? After all, Harry is no longer the only survivor of the killing curse (although Voldemort does not know the specifics on how James survived). Do you think Voldemort's vainness would make James a prime target as well? Or would James be on the top of his wanted list simply for being Harry's father and having survived Voldemort numerous times?

I'm pretty settled in the notion that since James survived him (and in wdmc, was a strong opponent during the first war), he'll obviously be a main target. Plus, he is Harry's father and therefore close to Harry.

Basically - I'm thinking in terms of the prophecy and how Voldemort, directly, would look at James and consider him.

Curious as to other's opinions on this matter, which may or may not affect the direction I go in writing.

Thank you, to anyone who replies. *hugs n cookies*

I need help, please. *hopeful look*

I need a beta reader to work with me on the last chapter of What Dreams Will Come.

I have a portion written and would very much like it read over before I continue. But I need more than just a beta reader, I need someone who would be willing to discuss it with me. And of course be okay with reading the last chapter in parts and knowing things.

Anyone? Please?

Edit: In addition to Mands, who of course, is quite lovely and wonderful at beta reading my work. *grins*

Some stuff, real quick...

Totally quick entry:

Well, like everyone on my flist I could go on about my reaction to Deathly Hallows - but I won't. :p I will simply say that I loved it and there are many parts that stick out to me as awesome, wonderful, etc, as well as parts that gave me a blank look or go wtf?. Bottom line - I thought the book was a great ending. Besides -- JKR's left us with some great holes to play with in fandom. ^^

Speaking of fandom - this has me realllly wanting to write.

Okay - I'm going out of town in the morning for work and will be back sometime Friday evening/night. The good news is that Adam is totally letting me take his laptop with me! Yay! And the hotel I'm staying in has internet so...I shall still be here this week AND I can actually write! This excites me.

And in other news...Adam and I went apartment looking for the first time today. Awww. It was fun. We actually did find a place that we liked, but it's only the first day of looking. After pondering over our finances and such, we've decided that we should be able to move out sometime in September (this is, as well, very good news). So, we also went window-furniture shopping. *grins*

Need to finish packing and head to bed for my long drive tomorrow! I'll talk more HP later, I'm sure. I'm quite enjoying reading everyone else's thoughts and I've become addicted to [profile] deathlyh_icons (tons of great icons!) and [profile] everything_dh. It sure as hell ain't over. =) And although James is, always has been, and probably always will be my favorite character, I keep listening to the Snevans theme song...

Talk to you all later!

FIVE DAYS AND LIFE CHANGES

I am a complete spaz these days. I've been working a lot but that hasn't stopped me from eating, breathing and sleeping Harry Potter. In fact, not too much time (I'm talking minutes, people) goes by without me saying something about Harry Potter. And seeing OotP did not help. It only gave me more reason to talk more. Poor Adam - he has no reason (other than it would be good for him) to actually read the books, he knows everything I know. *grins* However, he's caught up in all the hype and he's been asking me questions, asking me to explain things and asking me about theories and such. He wants me to sit down with him and watch all the movies so I can pause and explain details AND he's mentioned that one of these days, he wants to actually read the books! He's not much of a reader so this is Very Exciting. Plus, not only have I won yet another to the Dark Side (meaning the Obsessed HP world), but it's really nice to have someone finding interest in one of my interest. Usually, I'm rather off on my own in left field where my friends and family are concerned. This is quite exciting.

Anyway. I've been rereading the books and I'm so glad that I am. They're quite enjoyable (of course, as if that sentence was preluded with doubt?) to be reading one after the other and completely reading them. I've reread them all at some point, but I've always skipped around and read what I felt like reading. Things are really clicking and I've been driving home my theories to anyone who will listen.

Not that it's worth anything to have the theories any longer...SPOILERS UP MY ASS. I've avoided endings...but they are at My Fingertips. [personal profile] christycorr and [profile] nancy_downs are no help in this. *grins*

I'm dying. Seriously. I can't believe this is...It.

So...proper updates about all sorts of things will come after the reading, obsessing and tearing apart of Deathly Hallows occurs. Until then, I probably won't be around online too much. I'll be too busy reading and talking HP to anyone who will listen to me. =)

Happy Reading, Everyone!

Fic Update

*waves* Been a while since I've given one of these. =\

Okay - I haven't had time, to be honest, in the past couple of months to work on much of anything. I do have plans and hopefully I now have time - that's the good news. So, in case you're wondering about anything in the works - read on.

Bittersweet Love - I'm going to be honest. I have no current plans on working on this for a while. Perhaps, someday when inspiration hits, I'll work on editing and rewriting it (personally, I think it's absolutely horrid). It's rather cliche and poorly written, I think. So...I don't see any hope for it in the near future.

Ride the Wind - *huggles* I miss this one! As soon as What Dreams May Come is done, I will get back to this one! I want to rewrite the first chapters (I think, I have the first six or so written?) before I start reposting it. I really need to work out my plan, too, out on paper, before I continue. So...look for that one within the next few months.

What Dreams May Come - One More Chapter Left. It's in the works! I pulled it up today to reread what I have written and I just need to fall back into that place and I can finish it. Mands is waiting for me, so it isn't a beta problem...it's just me. Last chapter...I've never written a last chapter before! It's coming along, though. The title is self titled, What Dreams May Come and I use a quote from Hamlet (go figure which one!) to start the chapter off.

Since I'm talking about wdmc - I have a question that I'd greatly appreciate any opinions and feedback on. I've had a few requests for a sequel to wdmc and I've considered it. Originally, I had no intentions of going any further (of course, back when wdmc started, I hadn't really planned the ending). I could go further with the story - I could continue through the time of the remaining books, just written with James alive and my version. But...is it worth it? Would any of you be interested in it? Author-wise, is it wise to write sequels? I just can't make up my mind on this and I'd like to by the time I post the final chapter.

Moments - Moments shall be a vignette that's currently in the works. I have the first of four chapters written, the final three all planned out and beta-approved. It's MWPP-era and that's all I can say until I post the first chapter. =)

Believe it or not (this HP summerfest is getting to me, I think.), I actually have three other ideas (possibly plans) for some short fics. I have a Peter based vignette in mind, a Snape one-shot, and a fic about James (of course) from a different point of view. The last one I'm unsure about more than the others. We'll see. Anyone willing to hash out some ideas with me, I'll take you up on the offer. @_@

That's all for now. wdmc will get caught up over at the UR and I'll keep working and concentrating on the final chapter of that for now. =)

Super Quick Update

Long time no hear from me, yes? I have to make this quick - tons of things that I'm putting off by trying to be on the computer for five seconds.

Long story short for now -

I'm in the process of moving, which, for some reason, has been a chore. I'm working a lot for a thousand different reasons (that's a later story) and my computer is dying (I'm not even on it now, I'm on Adam's). I'll be without internet for a short while (hopefully very short). Once that's hooked up and I figure out what's wrong with my computer (even if I don't, I can steal Adam's) I should be back once again.

If anyone wants to talk to me when I'm not here, feel free to text me via LJ or aim (euroash8064). I text back. =) I love it when Christy texts me. *giggle*

Okay - so my apologies for not being around - I had been working on the last chapter of wdmc and a new short story that'll go up soon PLUS there's a thousand things I'm missing out on at UR...

Life.

Hopefully, talk soon! Love to you all.

Can't Believe My Eyes

I'm a nervous wreck. First brand new piece of work in over a year...I suck at writing 'action'...

What Dreams May Come, chapter 14, Death Be Naught, has been updated at ff.net and can be found here.

Chapter 15, entitled the title of the story, is currently being worked on at the best of my ability. I'm considering a sequel, a sequel that would still (as best I can) follow canon in my own, little AU world I've created. Pleasssse give me your opinion on this. =)

I'm going to go wait for the world to come to an end now.

Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday dear meeeee
Happy birthday to me!

Usually I skip the "let's celebrate funness" that's required of birthdays, but I'm happy that I woke up and remembered that it is my birthday, given that I forgot earlier. *blank look* Yep - TOTALLY forgot my birthday was today, totally forgot I was supposed to go out for a birthday dinner...hah. If you didn't know already, I don't hold my birthday up as a OMG!CELEBRATE sort of day. *shrug* Just never have. Anyway.

I'm getting busy - it's February. Feb is a great month and a crappy one. It's great because I'm constantly busy and it's crappy because I barely have time to breathe. Mostly work, with a dash of this and a dash of that thrown in the mix.

Point - if you don't see me around much, I'll be back soon. I try to check my email daily (or as close to everyday as possible), and if you need me, you can find me (emergencies, you can text my phone via lj or aim), but if you don't hear from me, this is why.

And ... between all my craziness I've been trying to finish up editing chapter 14 of wdmc - the moment that I can, I will update it. *nods*

Hmm. Twenty-six years ago, my mom's day started out normal (I was two weeks late), hoping I'd decide to arrive today. I let her go until dinner and then I broke her water. It was snowing (my love for snow, perhaps?) and at 8:57pm I was born. *grins* And a headache I've been ever since.

I think the world may come to an end soon...

I do believe - though I'm not sure how much editing and rewriting it may need - that I have finished writing Chapter 14 of What Dreams May Come.

In fact, I'm so sure that I did send the rest of the chapter off to my lovely beta, [profile] white_tulips

I'm not sure if I'm excited, scared, nervous or relieved...

How did I get so accomplished this week? It's been really productive...

ETA: The final four paragraphs of the story have been written. The very ending - it's there and I actually love it. Let's hope this motivation keeps coming...

A Quick One

Hey everyone. Just jumped on real quick to do a few needed things and wanted to wish everyone a very happy holiday time.  My holidays are going rather well, which is nice and appreciated. =) Good friends, reasonably serene family get-togethers (which is a rarity), yummy food and fun times have made this holiday one worth remembering fondly. I'll go into more detail at a later time, but I do hope that all of you are enjoying your last days of 2006 and ready to take on whatever 2007 shall bring.

Life's been busy and hectic between get-togethers, work and Adam-time (who is on vacation currently from both work and school). That, and my computer is going all crazy-like and is in desperate need of a major cleanup. It doesn't always like to do what I ask of it. Although, proudly, I have managed to fix a few minor problems it's given me. *grin*

In the meantime, I'm beginning to get excited as I'm actually working on What Dreams May Come with the current chapter and plans for the last one. Hopefully, by the time I get my computer back to speed, the writing will be flowing and I'll actually update finally. =)

Everyone take care and I'll talk to you all soon!

With love, huggles n coookies!

Writing Motivation Needed!

I'm trying to write. I'm trying to work on chapter 14 of wdmc - instead I opened a new document and started writing some things for chapter 15 - things that happen and/or are said after what's not written in 14.

I need motivation.

Motivate me, please.
